The 2009 Cuckoo Fair is on Saturday 2nd May.

|
|
The Downton Cuckoo Fair is the ideal one day family event, held on the greens in
the picturesque village of Downton, six miles south of Salisbury.

|
With over 250 craft and other interesting stalls (some in marquees); rural craft
demonstrations; maypole; morris dancing; street entertainment; music; Downton
Brass Band; and plenty for the children including Punch and Judy, clowns, bouncy
castle and roundabouts.
There are ample car parks available, run by charities, with buses running a Park
and Ride service. There is also a good selection of food and refreshments, along
with good facilities for the disabled.

The Fair is very popular, with an estimated 20,000 visitors in 2005. It is
organised by a Committee of volunteers drawn from the many Downton village clubs
and organisations on a non-profit making basis, with the income received
from stallholders, sponsors and donations spent on running the fair. Last year,
over 3000 was spent on entertainment.
